In John 10:10, we read: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
He knew that his parents had prayed for him. He overheard them when coming in one night earlier than usual.
“O Lord,” his father prayed. “We give our son to you. We love him, Lord. Do whatever You need to do to bring him to Yourself. Let him understand how much You love him.” He heard the soft weeping of his mother. He didn’t stop but clung to the banister for support as he made his way to his room.
He tried to block out those prayers and was successful most of the time...with the aid of his friend, the bottle. Then he met a beautiful girl. This will give me a new purpose in life. It did for a while. He became involved in the church but something in is life was still missing.
He had a heart attack, had to have surgery. The physician told him the odds of his survival were not good. During the night, faced with the reality of his death, he threw himself on the mercies of God.
The Lord Jesus accepted him with open arms. Not only did He forgive his sins, but gave him new life. He lived to pray for his children and grandchildren with a joyful heart.
The Lord Jesus offers the same to you and me. An abundant life filled to the brim with His love that can overflow into the lives of others. Life refers to more than life on earth but a higher quality of life now and into eternity where it will be complete and perfect.
Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus loves you with an everlasting love and He has promised never to leave nor forsake you. He stands with His arms opened wide. Won’t you come to Him?
