WHO’S YOUR FATHER?

In Isaiah 63:16, we read: “Doubtless You are our Father, Though Abraham was ignorant of us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O Lord, are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.

She climbed the stairs to Dr. Havilah Babcock’s office. She’d heard so much about I Want A Word, an English class he taught. She registered early this semester hoping for an available space.

She tapped on the door. The secretary invited her to enter, glanced up from the stack of papers on her desk.

“May I help you?”

“Yes ma’am. I would like to sign up for “I Want A Word.”

“Oh. Not possible. That class fills a semester ahead of time,” the secretary said, with a shake of her head. “I’m sorry.”

Her shoulders slumped. “Thank you,” she said, her smile almost real and turned to leave. Eyes downcast, she didn’t notice a gentleman seated at his desk in the adjoining office.

He stood, walked around the desk, then leaned against it. Arms crossed, his head tilted as smoke wreathed it from the cigarette dangling from his mouth.

“Where’re you from?” He said.

“Mayesville, South Carolina.”

“Who’s your daddy?”

 “Joe Blackwell.”

“Sign her up for my class,” he said to his secretary. “I know her daddy. Like to hunt with him. His dogs are highly trained.”

Kingdom Thinking. The One who loves me most is in control of my life, a fact I often forget. The Lord God is my father and He promises never to leave nor forsake me. He loves me--even when I’m unlovable and mess up.

The Lord Jesus loves you and wants you to know His Forever Love. He promises never to leave nor forsake his children. Are you one of His? Is He your Father? His arms are outstretched. Won’t you come?
