DO YOU TRUST YOUR PILOT?

In John 8:31-32, we read: “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.’”

“Flying at night will allow us another day in the Islands."  Trained in the US Air Force as a fighter pilot, my husband now flew a Cessna 172. His plan sounded like a good one so it was put into motion.

On the appointed evening, we took off, heading for the Bahamas. Another couple accompanied us, the guys seated up front, ladies in back.

It didn’t take long for the hum of the engines to lull me to sleep.

My husband’s voice, requesting to land and refuel, pulled me from sleep. Next leg of the journey would be out over the Atlantic.

The tower gave the coordinates but I sat up when I heard his tight voice asking them to check as the lighted runway was not the one requested. Finally different runway lights flashed on, the former ones winked out. He landed safely, refueled and we were on our way.

On my spiritual journey I need a pilot I can trust. One that is faithful and trustworthy. One that knows when I’m landing in the wrong place. As I looked out of the window of the plane that night, the landing lights looked right to me. But not to the eye of the experienced pilot with instrument rating.

Our Lord Jesus promises if I abide in His word, I will be His disciple. But more than that--I will know the truth because He who is truth abides in me. He will pilot me. He will bring me home safely.

Kingdom Thinking. Perhaps like me, you have been deceived and believed the wrong coordinates for your life journey. The Good News? The Lord Jesus will pilot you. He loves you with an everlasting love and will never leave nor forsake you. Won’t you come to Him? He is a pilot you can trust.
