In John 8: 31-32, we read: “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”
“Flying at night will allow us another day in the Islands.” Mr. Simpson, Grandfather’s friend said. Trained in the US Air Force as a fighter pilot, he flew a Cessna 172. They decided on the dates and submitted the flight plan.
On the appointed evening, Timmy and Grandfather joined Mr. Simpson and his son, Jerry. "We sit in the back seats and I brought some pillows in case we get sleepy,” Jerry said.
"I’m going to rest my eyes,” Timmy announced as he punched his pillow into a comfortable position. Before long the hum of the engines lulled the boys to sleep.
“What’s going on, Dad?” Jerry sat up. He’d heard his dad request to land and refuel before they headed out over the ocean, the last leg of the trip.
Lights flashed outlining the runway then the tower gave the coordinates.
“Please check them,” Mr. Simpson said. After more comments and questions, different runway lights flashed on, the former winked out.
“What just happened, Grandfather.”
“I learned to trust my pilot.” He grinned at Mr. Simpson. Like my spiritual journey I need a pilot I trust. One that is truthful and knows when I’m landing on the wrong runway. When I looked out of the window of the plane, the landing lights looked right to me but not to the eye of the experienced pilot.
"Our Lord Jesus promises if I abide in His word, I will be His disciple. But more than that--I will know the truth because He who is truth abides in me. He will pilot me. He will bring me home safely."
Kingdom Thinking. Perhaps like me, you've been deceived and believed the wrong coordinates for your life journey. The Good News is the Lord Jesus will pilot you. He loves you with an everlasting love. He will never leave nor forsake you. Won’t you come to Him?
