GRACE. AN UNFATHOMABLE, UNDERSERVED GIFT.

In Romans 11:6, we read: “And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.”

“You’re talking in circles, Grandfather.” Timmy plopped in the kitchen chair, chin resting in his hand.

“Are you standing or sitting?” Timmy rolled his eyes.

“I’m sitting.”

“Right. But if you stand up, you’re no longer sitting. One or the other, right?”

“Guess so.” Tmmy grinned. “Never thought about it like that.”

“You know, son, we make things awfully hard to understand. All I’m pointing out is you can’t have both grace and works. If we saved by grace, we’re save by grace...”

“I can’t work for it?” Grandfather shook his head. “I can’t steal it?” Another head shake. “I can’t buy and I can't sell it?” He picked up the cadence as Timmy tapped his fingers on the table.

“We certainly don’t deserve it.” His face shone with delight and wonder. "It’s a never ending spring-- a gift. Paid for by the Lord Jesus Christ.”

As Timmy watched the glowing face of his grandfather, he whispered. “If’s it a gift, why don’t we let it shine through us all the time?”

“Because when I become stubborn or unforgiving, I shove grace to the side, slow down His flowing spring. I think I can work it out for myself...”

“It’s not allowing His grace to work.” He frowned. “Where is it then?” Grandfather chuckled.

“Good point. I haven’t lost it but clogged up His spring. I confess it to Him, He cleans the spring so I can use the gift in all areas of my life. It’s much easier for me when I do.”

Kingdom Thinking. I confess I need His grace. Every minute of the day. He loves me with an everlasting love and will never leave nor forsake me. He offers the same to you. Won’t you come to Him?
