A THANKFUL HEART!

“‘For you are my witnesses,’ says the Lord, And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me.” Isaiah 43:10. (NKJV).

“You really believe all that stuff? The part about God loves us?” The sneer, his stance, all reeked of anger.

The old gentleman looked at him. I was like that before I met You, Lord? Help me to be the witness who will reach this young man.

“Would you listen to a story about a friend of mine?” The boy nodded.

"The young man wanted excitement in his life. A great athlete, he won a full football scholarship for college. Before long, he got in with the wrong crowd, thought himself privileged. Arrested for driving the get-away car for a bank robbery, his so-called friends testified against him—claimed he was the brains behind the operation.

“They went free. He went to prison.

“While there, someone gave him a Bible. He read it and for the first time in his life, he realized he was lost. He needed a Savior. He fell to his knees, gave his life to the Lord Jesus and became His witness.”

The boy tilted his head. “Were you that guy?” He nodded, a smile on his face.

“Why are you telling me this? I don’t believe any of it.”

“I can’t make you believe,”he said. “Really that’s not up to me. It’s between you and the lord. I've told my story. What you do with it is up to you.” The young man frowned.

"Sounds too easy,” he said. “You're telling me I can be set free? At no cost?”

“There’s cost involved because Someone paid for your sins and mine with His blood. But know this. I’m a witness, not the prosecutor. My question is, “Whose witness are you?”

“Think He could love me?” he said, eyes pleading. The gentleman smiled.

“No doubt about it.” He put his hand on the young man’s shoulder. “None at all.”

“What must I do?”

“Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sin, come into your life, to be your Lord and Savior.”

“Can you help me?”

His arm around the boy’s shoulders, he began to pray. “Dear Lord Jesus, we come asking you…”

“Lord Jesus. I don’t deserve Your forgiveness. I’ve messed up so many times. But if You’ll have me, just take me and teach me how to love You. Thank you, Lord.”

A tear-streaked face smiled at him. “Thank you for telling me your story.”

“My pleasure. Be assured I’ll be praying for you. If your need me, here’s my card.”

“What’s HWP?” He said after reading the card.

“His Witness Program.”

“Am I a member?”

“Absolutely. Welcome.” He shook his hand with a thankful heart. Thank you, Lord.

Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus loves me with an everlasting love. I don’t reach out to others alone for He promises never to leave me— the true reason for a thankful heart. He offers the same to you. Won’t you come to Him?
