FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT!

“For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward men appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,...” Titus 3:3-5. (NKJV).

She slumped against the wall. Exhausted and hopeless, she waited for death to claim her.

“Daughter?” Who would speak kindly to her? Her father and mother dead, she was alone in the world.

He stooped, lifted her chin until she looked into His eyes. Piercing. Seeing into the darkest places of her heart. Without condemnation.

“Come,” He said. She hesitated. The “what-ifs” paraded through her mind. Would He deceive her? Take advantage of her, discard her like trash?

“I have not come to harm you,” His gentle voice said. “I have come to offer you new life.”

Doubts bombarded her. Somewhere inside she heard the screaming, “No, don’t trust Him.”

“Silence,” He said. “The choice is yours. This life of darkness or a life of light.”

She gazed into His face. Saw the tenderness, the love in His eyes. She raised her crippled arm. He took her hand, pulled her to her feet. For the first time she could remember, she stood tall, her arm and back straight.

"I choose a life of light." She fell at his feet and with tears of gratitude and adoration, gently washed them.  "My Lord and my God."

KINGDOM THINKING. I find it difficult to believe the Lord Jesus would stop and call to me--would love me so much He'd provide a way for me to be in His family of light. His shed blood washed me clean of all my sins. He saved me through His power and might. He promises never to leave me. He offers the same to you. Will you believe Him?
