ONE STEP AT A TIME

In Jeremiah 10:23, we read: “O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.”

“Grandfather. I can’t see where we’re going.” Fog had rolled in, blurring their surroundings.

“Don’t panic, Timmy. Can you see a few steps in front of you?”

“Yes sir. But I can’t see far.”

“Trust me. I know this path. Watch me, not the things around you.”

“Are you sure?”

Grandfather knelt in front of Timmy, put his hands on his shoulders. “Look at me. Have I ever wanted harm to come to you? I love you, son. I know where we’re going.” He chuckled. “Hang on to my coat tails.”

“Those aren’t coat tails. It’s your jacket tied around your waist.” Timmy giggled.

“Works for me.” Grandfather winked at him.

“Works for me, too, Grandfather.”  He latched on to Grandfather’s jacket, head up, steps steady.

“Maybe this is a lesson for both of us." Timmy tilted his head.

“Don’t understand.”

“When you thought we were lost in this fog, fear rolled in, too. But fear causes confusion. We can’t think straight. We need--.”

“A coat tail to hang on to?” He tugged on Grandfather’s jacket.

“You’re right.” Grandfather chuckled. “But not any coat tail. We need to hang on to the Lord Jesus. He promises never to leave nor forsake us. He loves us--forever!”

Kingdom Thinking. Many times I’ve struggled along the path of life, the fog closing in. I must remember I’m not alone. I’m with the one who created the path. He knows the way but most important, He knows me and loves me just as I am.

He loves you with His everlasting love. He promises never to leave nor forsake you. Won’t you come to Him?
