BLUEBERRIES

In Colossians 2:6-7, we read: As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

The blueberry bushes were about the same size when planted. However one of the three was planted several years ago. The last two just this spring. The planting method was the same. Planted in enriched soil with proper light and nutrients, they were happy in the spot selected. Until, without my realizing it, other plants began encroaching.

All of the plants have berries but I have to be diligent. Birds, deer and other critters share my love for blueberries.  But the planting is only a part of the process. They have to be staked if necessary. They may need help in establishment of the territory that can be easily invaded by honeysuckle and other weeds. With thanksgiving, berries are produced and enjoyed.

As a believer in the Lord Jesus, I have been planted with His tender loving care. He tells me in His Word just as I have received Him, I need to walk in Him, become established in His ways as I study His word, and fellowship with His children.

Walk in Him. A memory from childhood helps me with this. As a small child, Daddy would dance with me. Before you say, “Oh please!" Let me explain. I would place my feet on his shoes. Then we would glide around the room. I thought I was dancing. Actually Daddy was the one dancing. I just enjoyed the ride.

Kingdom Thinking. So many times I take credit when it wasn’t me at all. As I am rooted in the Lord Jesus, built up in Him and become established in Him, I am the visible one. I give praise and thanksgiving to Him who loves me with an everlasting love. He has promised never to leave nor forsake me. He offers the same to you. Won’t you put your trust in Him?
