CAREFUL WHAT YOU CHOOSE!

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the god of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15. (NKJV).

“Choose your favorite cup and we’ll vote.” Miss Bradley handed out slips of paper.

The silver tray displayed three cups--a gold and white china cup and saucer, a white mug with blue flowers, and an old tin cup. She held up each for outside inspection, then filled them with clean water.

She gathered the slips, tallied them. “Winner by a landslide." She held the gold and white cup. The class clapped.

“Take a look.” Mud covered the bottom polluting the clean water. Gasps filled the room.

The blue-flowered mug? Coffee grounds tainted its water.

Last the battered tin cup. Clean water sparkled. The room was so quiet you could hear a mouse hiccup in the back hall. A hand shot up.

“Yes, Timmy?”

“May I change my vote?” She smiled.

"Why did you choose the gold and white cup?"

"Definitely the prettiest. 'Sides everyone choose it."

"Ahh."

"It seemed right."

"Yes, it did. Why change your vote?" The corner of his lips turned down.

'I saw the inside. Yuck."

"You may change it. But, remember choice is a way of life and presents consequences.

"For this reason, Jesus came and paid for my sins. He knew I'd pick the wrong cup because of its beauty or believe the opinion of others.

"He held my life cup so I see inside. Not pretty and I couldn't clean it. I looked into His face and saw His love for me and you know what?" Heads shook. "He cleaned my cup and filled it with Living water. His gift. My choice. Now I belong to Him."

"How about me, Miss Bradley? Will He clean my cup?"

"Absolutely, Timmy. Anyone can ask Him." Hands went up. "Thank you, Lord," she whispered.

Kingdom Thinking. In this life journey, choices bombard us. The most important choice is to choose the Lord Jesus Christ. He alone is worthy. He loves you and will never leave you. Won’t you come to Him?
