ORPHAN NO MORE

In John 14:16-18, we read: “And I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”

When Mama died, they took me in. I guess in their own way they loved me. But I never felt like I belonged.

Their children came first. I understand. I, an orphan, could never measure up to them.

Sara looked up, tears in her eyes. She brushed them away, lifted her chin. She tightened her jaw to hide the quiver.

So many times in my life, I have felt the same emotions as Sara. Alone. Unloved. Helpless. Hopeless. An orphan.

But I must remember whose I am. The Lord Jesus has promised that He would pray to the Father and the Father would give me another Helper. He would abide with me forever. The Spirit of Truth. In John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

I choose to remember His words, His promises, His love for me and wipe away the tears of self pity and let the tears of joy stream forth and wash away the lies of the enemy. By the way, the world doesn’t understand this. No need to explain.

Kingdom Thinking. This prayer from John 14, is for you, too. The great “I AM” loves you with an everlasting love. He has promised never to leave nor forsake you. He will dwell with you and never leave you as an orphan. Won’t you come to Him? He is waiting.
