In Luke 18:1-5, we read: “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying; ‘There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him saying, ‘Get Justice for me from my adversary.' And he would not for a while; but afterwards he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”
She came into the waiting room. “May I see the Judge, please. I know he can get justice for me.”
“His schedule is full today. I’ll be happy to make you an appointment for another day.” She shook her head.
“I’ll wait. Maybe he can see me between appointments. I’ll only take a moment of his time.” With those words, she sat down, and reached into her bag. She pulled out blue yarn, her knitting needles, and began to knit. From time to time, she would glance at the secretary and smile.
“I’ll check with the judge,” the secretary said. “There’s a little lady to see you, Judge. Can you see her?”
“Absolutely not,” he said. “She’ll leave when she realizes I won’t see her.”
She held up the garment for the secretary to see. Beautiful work, no dropped stitches, the secretary thought. She’s not worried the judge won’t help her. She tapped on the judge’s door, entered at his summons.
“She’s still here...after four hours. What should I do?”
“Fine,” the judge said, but he really didn’t sound fine. “I’ll help her before she drives me crazy.”
Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus loves me with an everlasting love. He promises never to leave nor forsake me. He follows through with His promises. He is my advocate with the Father. He offers the same to you. Won’t you come to Him?
