“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38, 39. (NKJV).
Timmy shook his canteen, flipped it upside down. “Not a drop left, Grandfather.” He licked his lips, swallowed.
“Hang on. If we keep on this trail, we’ll find a spring that flows from the rocks.”
“I don’t see anything but rocks and sand in this desert.”
“See that bee? Follow it. It’ll lead us to water.”
Climbing the rocks, Timmy yelled. “There. Water's flowing from the rocks into that pool.”
At the water’s edge, Grandfather said. “Little sips, son.” He filled their canteens. “Drink small amounts or you’ll get sick.”
“But I’m thirsty.” He leaned towards the water, but Grandfather grabbed his belt, handed him his canteen.
“The Lord Jesus tells us if we come to Him and drink, He’ll not only take care of our thirst, but will fill us up to overflowing with living water. He uses our little sips to bubble over and share with others.”
Water dripped from his canteen and sparkled like diamonds in the sunshine. "This kind of water?” Grandfather chuckled.
“More precious than you can imagine. You’ll soon be thirsty with your water, but when we sip from the water the Lord gives us, we’ll never thirst. His living water lasts forever.
“How do I get this living water?"
“By coming to Him. We take little sips of His Word, the Bible, and He begins to fill us with His love that flows like a river."
"I want little sips, Grandfather." He tipped up his canteen.
