In Matthew 25:14-15, we read: “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.”
She sat on a high stool behind the counter at the family drug store. She watched her nieces and nephews as they flipped through comic books, laughing and talking. Her brow furrowed in thought. I have to think of a way to get them interested in church. Her face brightened--a light bulb flashed in her mind. It might just work, too.
“Who would like to earn a nickel a day?” She asked.
All heads swiveled to her. “I would,” they chorused. Some raised their hands.
“What do we have to do?” David asked, doubt laced through his voice. “Clean out the back room?” He made a face.
“No,” she laughed. “That would be a special favor to me but you don’t have to do that.” She tilted her head. “I’ll give you a nickel a day if you go to Sunday School with me every Sunday.”
“I can do that,” David answered. “How about you?” He turned to each of the kids. They nodded.
The kids kept their word. They met at her home each Sunday morning and accompanied her to Sunday School. After several Sundays, they sat with her in church.
Though she thought this a minor thing in her life, her investment paid off. A Godly mother, a faithful father, a minister and a missionary came from her little group.
Many times we don’t realize the far reaching effect our small deeds have on others. With prayer to our Lord Jesus to guide us in our endeavors, only He knows the blessings that will come.
Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus has blessed us with different talents. But more than that, He allows us to use them in His Kingdom for His Glory and for our good. He loves us with an everlasting love and He never leaves nor forsakes us. Won’t you choose Him? He loves you.
