In John 14:20-21, we read: “At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
He trudged in, plopped into the kitchen chair. Chin in his hands, he watched her place his dinner before him. A dinner worth waiting for--steak, baked potato, hot rolls, with a green salad on the side.
“Umm, looks wonderful,” he looked at his wife. “Thank you.” She smiled, placed a cup of coffee by his plate, and joined him. He blessed his food, but before he could pick up his fork and knife, the atmosphere changed.
A streak of orange fur zipped under his right elbow and snagged his steak, beating a hasty retreat. Stunned for a nano-second, he leaped to his feet, overturning the chair, and took out after the cat. The feline made it to the now closed door. Uh-oh!
He strode into the kitchen the steak dangling between thumb and forefinger, and threw it into the garbage. “My steak. And he thought he could get away from me!”
“I haven’t seen you move,” his wife snickered, “so fast in years,” She swiped at tears then peals of laughter erupted. The kids came running to see the cause of the commotion and joined in as did her steak-less husband.
“Who would have thought a cat could stir up this much laughter? Guess it was in there all the time,” he chuckled.
Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus said, “At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” When I asked the Lord Jesus into my life, I didn’t hear bells or whistles. But He was at work in me. Little did I know He had a plan. To quote C. S. Lewis. Surprised By Joy.
His plan? He promises to love me with an everlasting love and to never leave nor forsake me. Not only the Lord Jesus, but His Father loves me, too, and The Lord lives in me! He will be there, always. In times of trouble. In times of gladness. He promises the same to you. Won’t you come to Him?
