THE REASON FOR GIVING THANKS!

In Isaiah 43:10, we read: “‘For you are my witnesses,’ says the Lord, And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me.”

“You really believe all that stuff? The part about God loving us?” The sneer, evident in the boy’s voice, revealed anger.

The old gentleman looked at him. Was that me before I met the Master? Help me, Lord, to be the  witness who will reach this young man.

“Would you listen to a story about a friend of mine?” The boy nodded.

"This young man wanted excitement in his life. A great athlete, he won a full scholarship to play football in college. Before long, he got in with the wrong crowd, thought himself privileged to drive for them. Too late, he realized he was in over his head. Arrested for driving the get-away car for a bank robbery, the friends witnessed against him--claimed he was the brains behind the operation.

“Sentenced to prison, his friends went free. While there, someone gave him a Bible. He read it and for the first time in his life, he realized he was lost. He needed a Savior. He fell to his knees, gave his life to the Lord Jesus and became His witness.”

The boy tilted his head. “Were you that guy?” The old gentleman nodded, a smile on his face.

“Why are you telling me this? I don’t believe it.”

“I can’t make you believe,”he said. “Really that’s not up to me. It’s between you and the lord. I've told my story.” The young man frowned.

"Sounds too easy,” he said. “You are telling me that I can be set free? At no cost?”

“There’s cost involved. Someone paid for your sins and mine with His blood. But know this. I’m a witness, not the prosecutor. My question is, “Whose witness are you?”

“You think He could love me?” he said, his eyes pleading. The gentleman smiled.

“No doubt about it.” He put his hand on the young man’s shoulder. “None at all."

Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus loves me with an everlasting love. I don’t reach out to others alone for He has promised never to leave nor forsake me. This is a reason for giving thanks. He offers the same to you. Won’t you come to Him?
