THE POWER SOURCE

In Psalm 68:35, we read: “O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people.”

“Wow. Look at that car, Grandfather!” The car rolled up to the curb where they stood. The driver got out, walked over to them.

“What do you think about this?” The driver patted the roof. “And take a look inside. Has every bell and whistle imaginable.”

“May I sit inside?” He checked Timmy’s shoes, nodded. Timmy slid in, put his hands on the steering wheel. “Wish Johnny could see me now.”

Mr. Lester, the local mechanic walked up. “I’d like to see under the hood.”

“In a minute,” the driver answered.  “Let me show you some of the new features. Check out the leather seats, the leg room...” He rattled the attributes of the car like an auctioneer.

Mr. Lester checked his watch. “Don’t have time for anymore of your talk. Just want to check out the engine.”

“Young man,” the driver said to Timmy. “Pull that latch for me. No. That’s the trunk. Yeah. That’s the one.” Timmy pulled it.

“This car doesn’t a battery,” growled Mr. Lester. "How’d you get here anyway?”

“Just coasted down the hill. Some folks up there wanted to see how long it’d take you to figure out the joke.” The men up the hill hooted. Mr. Lester grinned, waved to his friends.

“Grandfather,” Timmy asked on their way home. “Those guys went to a lot of trouble to tease Mr. Lester.”

“Guess so and he fell for it. But without the battery, the car wouldn’t take you anywhere, no matter how fancy the car.”  Timmy nodded. “But, you have to make sure you have the right power source. Remember our Bible verse this morning?”

“The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people,” Timmy said. Grandfather smiled.

Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus is my Power source. He promises to love me with an everlasting love and to never leave nor forsake me. He gives His power and strength to me because I chose Him. He offers the same to you. Won’t you choose Him?
