In Philippians 3:20 & 21, we read: "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself."
The family was excited and counting the days. They had been living in San Jose, Costa Rica, Central America, for seven months. Now on the Fourth of July, they were invited to the American Embassy to celebrate. That meant hot dogs, hamburgers and all things American.
Finally on the appointed day, they drove up to the embassy and waited at the gate to be admitted. "Look, Mama," one of the children said, excitement in his voice. "I see the American Flag. It's dancing in the wind. Isn't it beautiful?"
They looked up in awe as the wind furled and unfurled the beautiful flag. They stood on a little piece of American soil.
Our citizenship is in Heaven. A gift from our Heavenly Father who has arranged for us to remain here on this earth in training--a type of "boot camp." The pain and suffering in this world doesn't compare to the joy He has prepared for us.
Once in a while, I get a little glimpse, a little surge of joy, as the Heavenly Father gives me a gift. The most special gift is the salvation of one of my loved ones or friends. But especially the opportunity of introducing them to my Lord and Savior whether by sharing His Love with them or by claiming them through prayer. We will have an eternity to share the joy of the Lord Jesus together.
Kingdom Thinking. In this world we have dual citizenship. Most of the time, we live in "boot camp." One day, our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, will transform this "boot camp" body so that it will be conformed into a glorious body like His. He has promised this. Not only to me, but to you. Won't you choose Him?
