In John 1:3-5, we read: “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
“I don’t understand Grandfather.” Timmy plopped in the kitchen chair.
“Remember your nightmares when you were little?” He nodded. “What happened?” Timmy grinned.
“You'd charge into my room and turn on the light and chase the darkness away.” He chuckled. “Then you'd shine your big flashlight under my bed and in the closet and all the dark places.”
“How'd you feel?”
“Safe. I wasn’t scared any more. I kept your flashlight to shine anytime I needed, but--the batteries burned out.”
“Son, the Lord Jesus did that for us when He came to earth and took on the form of a man. He is Light, the Light of the world. For those who believe, His Light comes into them to stay. Forever. He’s real. We don’t need batteries. But most folks don’t believe Him.”
“Why? Makes no sense. Don’t they know He came to shine His Light so they won't be scared?”
“Some do. But others, instead of believing Him, choose to stay in their darkness.”
Kingdom Thinking. I knew about the Lord Jesus, sang about Him, even prayed to Him when I needed something. But I didn't allow His Light to come in and fill my life. He’s a gentleman and never forces Himself. Finally in desperation, I fell to my knees and invited Him to come in.
The Lord Jesus promises to never forsake me and loves me with everlasting love. He promises the same to you.Won’t you come to Him? He waits for you.
