In Isaiah 51:11, we read: “Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.”
“Have a surprise for you, Timmy. I’ve made reservations for us at the new restaurant.”
“All right.” He gave Grandfather a high five.
Upon arrival, the maĆ®tre d’ escorted them to a choice table. The server suggested some of the favorites on the menu. Orders given, they sat back to enjoy their iced tea. The server returned, chatted with them amiably as he arranged their food. He stood silently while Grandfather blessed the food.
“Why do you do that?” The server said, frowning.
“I believed the Bible to be true…” But before Grandfather could finish, he interrupted.
“I can read, and it makes no difference to me what that book says.” He cocked his head. “Why do you believe all that stuff?”
“The Lord Jesus changed my life when he set me free,” Grandfather answered softly.
“I can’t argue with that,” he said and left them to finish their meal.
“Why was he so mad, Grandfather? He didn’t know you.”
“The Lord gave me the opportunity to share what the Lord Jesus has done in my life. It’s up to the young man to listen. But we can pray for the Lord Jesus to redeem him so he can obtain gladness and joy.
“On the life journey, we, the redeemed, are returning. With singing and everlasting joy. Many that we encounter will be offended. That’s all right. It’s not our job to save anyone...only to share the love of the Lord Jesus.”
“Never thought about it like that,” Timmy said.
Kingdom Thinking. Everlasting joy shall be upon our heads. Because of redemption. Because the Lord Jesus has paid the price. Sorrow and mourning shall flee away as we follow Him. Won’t you join the redeemed? The Lord Jesus waits for you.
