“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22, 23. (NKJV).
“I can't believe James. He tricked me.”
Grandfather chuckled. “What happened this time?”
“Mr. Jones said he’d pay us to clean out his garage. He showed us how to sort the stuff.”
“Sounds fair.”
“But, Grandfather, you don’t understand. I’d finished my part, looked for James. He’s sitting in an old rocking chair, reading a book. Happy as can be.”
Grandfather’s lips twitched. “Well, what does James usually do?” Timmy shrugged.
“Goofs off. But I thought he'd be different this time.”
"Why?"
"He's my friend. He's supposed--"
“Timmy, he's doing what he always does. All of us goof off. It’s because of the Lord’s mercy I'm here. I’m not faithful but our loving Heavenly Father is Faithful. That's part of His Name--Faithful and True.
“Sad when you think about it. You wanted James to help you, right?” Timmy nodded. “Why did you think he’d changed?”
“Don’t know. Hoping, I guess. But, Grandfather? Wouldn’t it be easier if everyone did his part?”
“Absolutely. But we’re here to show the Lord’s mercies as we live day to day. Be kind, help your neighbor--because the Lord loves us, not to get something out of it.”
“Oh. That changes things, huh?”
“Indeed it does.” He put his arm around his grandson. “Come. Let’s get a snack. And who knows? His mercies are new every morning.”

"Oh!" Timmy lips tilted up. "Maybe tomorrow? A new morning?" Grandfather smiled, nodded towards the kitchen.
Kingdom Thinking. His mercies are new every morning. He loves me and promises never to leave nor forsake me. His Compassion extends to you, too. Won’t you come to Him?
Took me a while, but like Timmy, I've learned that it's not about what others do but what I do that matters to God. If I rise each morning and dedicate myself to serving Him on this day to the best of my ability, He'll do the rest. God's blessings ma'am.
