Your mama wanted to take I Want A Word, an English class taught by Dr. Havilah Babcock. She climbed the stairs to his office, tapped on the door. His secretary looked up.
“May I help you?”
“Yes ma’am. I want to sign up for I Want A Word.”
“I'm sorry. That class fills a semester ahead of time,” his secretary said, with a tilt of her head.
“Thank you.” Shoulders slumped, she turned to leave.

A gentleman in the adjoining office walked around his desk, leaned against it.
“Just a minute. Where’re you from?”
“Mayesville, South Carolina.”
“Who’s your daddy?”

“Who’s your daddy?”
She answered.
“Sign her up,” he said. “I know her Daddy. Hunt with him. He has good bird dogs.”
“So. Mama took his class?” Timmy said.
“Yes and loved every minute of it.” Grandfather caught Timmy's eye. “What would've happened if Dr. Babcock didn't know her father?”
“She couldn't take the class?” Grandfather grinned. “Wait. You're her daddy.”
“Smart fellow. Knew you'd catch up.
“Knowing our father's name is important but knowing our Heavenly Father? He is our Father, our Redeemer from Everlasting is His name.”
“Wow,” Timmy shook his head. “Some coincidence. She couldn’t have planned it better.”
“You really think it was a coincidence?”
“Don’t you, Grandfather?”
“Our Heavenly Father knows everything about us and has a plan for our lives.” He held up his hand. “Doesn’t mean I have to understand. But one thing I do know. He is my Heavenly Father and I put my trust in Him.”
“For me, too?”
“Absolutely!”
“What an awesome God we serve.”
“Awesome, indeed.” Grandfather pulled his grandson into a hug.
KINGDOM THINKING. The Lord Jesus is in control of my life with even the smallest details that add flavor to each day. The Lord God is my father. He loves me and promises never to leave nor forsake me. He loves you, too. Is He your Father? His arms are outstretched.
