HIS SECRET SERVICE!

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.” Proverbs 21:1. (NKJV)

“That’s one crooked river, Grandfather. Twists and turns. Powerful, isn’t it?”

“It appears so. But things aren't always as they seem. One flood could change the river’s course.”

“Talking about the Bible verse we learned? But Grandfather, it seems impossible.”

“Does.” He tilted his head, eyebrow cocked. “That’s a hard lesson to learn, son.

“Remember our drive through the mountains? You thought we were going downhill but we were going up? We can’t rely on our feelings. They’ll confuse us.”

“Yeah. I was positive we were going down. Until I looked behind us.”

“Or the summer day you thought water covered the road up ahead? When we got there...”

“Dry. So what’s this supposed to teach me?”

“To understand the Lord Jesus is in control--all the time. When the storms of life hit, it appears He’s forgotten me. Not true.

“Once you learn the secret the King’s in control, you can rest in Him. He has your back.”

“Do you always remember the secret?”

“Got me there, son.” Grandfather chuckled. “Have to confess I’ve forgotten a time or two."

“So, I’m in the Lord Jesus’ Secret Service?”

“Indeed, son. Good thinking.”

"If I'm in His Secret Service and you--wonder how many are?"

"Too many to count. So we praise Him for loving us as we serve."

"I can do that." Timmy hugged his grandfather. "I'm so glad we serve together."

Kingdom Thinking. My problem? I look at the news the world shows--wars and rumors of wars and find it difficult to remember the Lord Jesus is in control. But! He promises to love me and never leave me. He keeps His promises. How about you? Would you like to be in His Secret Service?

  1. Always enjoy these lessons Ms. Marjorie. I so often see myself in these stories, as the little fella, listening to and learning from his wise Grandfather. I imagine grandfather's name is Yahweh. Thank you for sharing these in such a delightful way.
