“Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.’” John 4:13-14 (NKJV).
She slowed her steps as she neared the well. A man sat there.
He looks tired. Maybe he won’t notice me. I’ll draw water and leave. She pulled her shawl close.
“Give me a drink.” Her head snapped up. She glanced over her shoulder. Me? She stared into His eyes, then lowered hers.
“You, a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan?”
“If you knew who was asking, you could ask and He would give you Living Water.” Brows puckered as she searched the base of the well.
“You have nothing to draw with and this well is deep. Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well?”
“Ah, but whoever drinks this water will thirst again. I'm offering water that will quench your thirst, a fountain of water that springs up into everlasting life.”
“Sir, please give me this water.” To never thirst? How great was that? She'd never have to come to this well.

”Call your husband.”
“Sir, I have no husband,” her chin dipped.
“You’re right. You've had five husbands, and the one you’re now with is not your husband.”
Perceiving Him a prophet, she sat at His feet as He explained the Father seeks those who will worship Him. For God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

“I know Messiah is coming. When He comes He will tell us all things.”
“I who speak to you am He.” She believed Him and ran to share the Good News.
“Why did it take her so long to know who He was, Grandfather?”
“We humans are a stubborn lot, Timmy. I ignored His Truths, too, but when I looked into His face and saw His love for me, I surrendered to Him. He loves me! Amazing.

“He loves me, too?”
“Absolutely.” He pulled his grandson into a hug. “You can count on it.”
Kingdom Thinking. No matter who you are, He offers you the same love and compassion. A fountain of living water—the Lifespring that flows into everlasting life. He promises never to leave nor forsake you. Won’t you come to Him?
