“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35. (NKJV).
“Come on, Sara,” Johnny tugged his sister's hand. “Let's go to the bakery. My treat.” He planned this trip to the bakery for weeks. Chores completed, he received his wages. He vacillated from cinnamon buns to cookies. Cinnamon buns won out.
“Good morning, Mr. Gray,” Johnny called as they entered the bakery. “I have my money.” He pulled out his handkerchief, the coins tied in the corner, snug and secure.
“Indeed you do,” Mr. Gray answered. “And what's your choice this fine morning?”
“Two cinnamon rolls.” He pointed to the corner of the pan. They have lots of icing.” Mr. Gray nodded, a smile tugging at his lips.
They walked outside and sat on the bench. Johnny opened his mouth to take his first bite when a hand snaked from behind him.
“I’ll take that.” In three bites, Sulky, the town bully, gobbled the whole thing. Johnny's eyes filled.
Sara stood, shoulders stiff. “If you’re hungry, take mine, too.” She offered hers to him.
He stared then ran down the street.
"I'm glad you bought these big cinnamon rolls." Sara divided hers, handed half to Johnny. "Always taste better when you share with someone."
"Even Sulky?" Sara smiled.
"Absolutely! Just think, Johnny. You may be the only one who shared with him today."
Kingdom Thinking. When bullies come, and they come in different shapes and sizes, I choose to remember this doesn't surprise our Lord Jesus. He shows me how He works in all things. He loves me with an everlasting love and promises never to forsake me. He wants to show you this love. Won’t you come to Him?
