In Proverbs 17:22, we read: “A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones."
“You're telling the truth?” Timmy snickered. “Uncle Henry did that?”
“Oh, yeah. He'd worked late that evening but his wife had kept his dinner warm. He slumped into the kitchen chair, elbows on the table, chin in his hands. She set his plate before him--steak, baked potato, hot rolls, with a green salad on the side.
“'Umm, looks wonderful. Thank you.' She smiled, placed a cup of coffee by his plate, and joined him. He blessed his food, but before he could pick up his fork and knife...
"A streak of yellow fur zipped under his right elbow and snagged his steak, beating a hasty retreat. Stunned for a nano-second, he leaped to his feet overturning the chair, and took out after the cat. The feline made it to the now closed door which prohibited escape.
"Henry strode into the kitchen, the abused steak between his thumb and forefinger, and threw it into the garbage. 'My steak. And he thought he could get away from me?'
“His wife erupted with laughter. ‘Didn’t know you could move so fast.' She wiped away tears then patted her husband on the back. The kids came running to see the cause of the commotion and hooted as did steak-less Henry.
“'Who would have thought a cat could stir up this much laughter? Guess it was in there all the time,’ his wife suppressed a giggle, hand covering her mouth.”
“Did Uncle Henry get supper?” Grandfather chuckled.
“He did. Not steak, mind you, but a cheese omelet with the trimmings and a good dose of laughter."
Kingdom Thinking. In His plan, the Lord Jesus promises to love me with an everlasting love and to never leave nor forsake me. He will be there in times of trouble and in times of gladness. He promises the same to you. Won’t you come to Him?
