In Philippians 4:19-20, we read: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
“Are we rich, Grandfather?”
“Absolutely. We have wealth we don’t know about.” He put his glasses on his Bible.
“Doesn’t make sense. How can we be rich and not know it?” Timmy sat on a stool by Grandfather.
“Years ago, I made a trip to Honduras. While there, I got a call from my father. Mother was ill. I needed to return immediately. Arrangements made, I left Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and flew into Miami International Airport in the late afternoon. The next flight didn’t leave for Columbia, South Carolina, until five o’clock the next morning.”
“So you spent the night in a hotel near the airport?” Timmy scooted closer.
“A hotel room was available at the airport. I opened my wallet, realized I lacked the cash for a night in the airport hotel. Head down, I shuffled to the waiting area. I have to spend the night here? I sat, trying to plan. Then I realized I'd focused on me rather than my wonderful Lord. I prayed for Mother, my trip, putting it in the Lord’s Hands. Wait a minute.
“What? What did you remember?” Timmy now sat on the arm of Grandfather’s chair.
“Travelers Checks. In my secure pocket. I’d bought them in case of emergency. I jumped up, hurried to the desk. A room secured, I got a good night’s sleep, and made it home.”
“And your Mother?”
“When I walked into the hospital room, I hardly recognized her. But she recovered and I learned an important lesson.” Timmy leaned close.
“The Lord knew and supplied my need. He writes the checks. Remember that, Timmy.” He nodded.
Kingdom Thinking. According to His Riches in glory, the Lord Jesus provides for me. He knows my heart and He knows my needs. He promises never to leave nor forsake me and He loves me with an everlasting love. He offers the same to you. Won’t you come to Him?
