HOPELESS NO MORE

In 2 Corinthians 5:21, we read: “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

The new car looked amazing. Slung low so it would hug the curves, bright fire-engine red--a car made for racing. Inside had been refurbished with every feature imaginable.

“Let’s look under the hood,” one gentleman suggested.

“In a minute. I want you to see every available safety precaution. Check out these special tires, the reinforced roll bar...”

“How many horses? Let’s see under the hood.”

A gasp sounded as the hood was raised. An engine but no spark plugs or battery. This car may have had all of the safety features in the world but without power, it was going nowhere.

So many times we are like that car. We take care of the outside. Keep that paint job shining. We appear to the world as if all is well when under our hood, the power of life, is missing, leaving us hopeless.

That was me for so many years. Then, in His special timing, the Lord Jesus came. He, the spotless, sinless Son of God offered me a new life. He took all the emptiness and pain and hurt (unrighteousness) and nailed it to the cross. Then He filled me with His Love, His joy, His peace, (His righteousness) and created a new spirit in me.  He declared me to be righteous in Him.

Kingdom Thinking. So many things I don’t understand. But this one thing I know. The Lord Jesus made me righteous in Him, not because of who I am or what I have done. He has promised never to leave me nor forsake me and He loves me with an everlasting love. He is my Hope. And you? You don’t have to understand. Just come to Jesus.
