In Psalms 116:1-2, we read: “I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
She awoke in the middle of the night. Confused, she lay still. Then she felt the fingers gently brushing her left cheek. Should she try to run? Or roll over to escape. But if his hand was that close to her she wouldn’t have a chance. He would grab her. So she did what she did best.
She let out a blood-curdling scream. “Da-d-dy!” The fingers continued their motion.
Daddy ran into the room. Jerked to a stop. Daddy’s scared, too?
Daddy began to laugh, his deep laugh started in his toes, filled him up to overflowing. Mama hurried in, stared, grabbed Daddy’s arm, then joined in the laughter. For a minute she thought they didn’t love her.
Daddy walked over to her bed. He shook his head, grinning. He gently lifted her right arm which encircled her head on her pillow. It was numb...asleep. She had been deceived. By her own hand.
Daddy sat on the side of her bed, took his little girl in his arms. “Forgive me for the laughter. I heard you scream my name. I thought something terrible...,” He swallowed the lump that clogged his throat. “I realize you were frightened but all is well.”
Many times in the middle of a situation, I realize I am in way over my head. I’m stuck. Helpless. I grapple for answers to no avail. So I cry out to the Lord. I love Him because He hears my voice. Awesome thought...to know that the Lord of Lords and King of Kings listens to my cry. Not only does He hear my voice but He encourages me to call on Him. For needs or to praise and thank Him.
Kingdom Thinking. The Lord Jesus offers the same to you. He loves you with an everlasting love. He has promised never to leave nor forsake you. Won’t you call on Him today?
